And there you are. Surrounded by fading neon lights, and pervasive boombox music. Fancy place, indeed. Maybe a little too expensive but hey, that's what you signed for tonight.
You look down, and you see packed elegant shoes with their respective elegant feet, clashing with your worn-out Chucks.
You look front, and behind those so-called friends chatting lively, there's plenty of cleverly-placed adverts encouraging you to drink, but with caution (this, almost illegible). You can't hear any voice because of the loud music. You only see people opening and closing their mouths quickly, and showing their teeth from time to time.
Then, you look up while you exhale somehow exasperated, feeling misplaced and longing to be home watching a good film. You can't understand why interpersonal relationships are forged or strengthened in these places. Why is it necessary to attend these events and pretend you are as close friends as you used to be, but not anymore?
